Koobia, the name and the story it tells
In the language spoken by the Sara-Kaba tribe in southeast Chad, KOUBIA means “genie of dawn and luck.” Since the beginning of time, the lives of the Sara-Kaba has been guided by mystique beliefs, in things such as spirits, after-life or even. In such a traditional society, women wake up before dawn hoping to catch the Genie of Luck (KOUBIA) passing by their doors and thus encounter that same luck later during the day.
It is in the heart of Sara traditions that Rebecca KOUBIA was born. Her brand KOOBIA®, is going to carry your imagination across time and allow you to discover her world of sharing love, beauty, wisdom, and sincerity.
In her culture, each gesture has a meaning; Rebecca learned to be familiar with old African plants from a very young age. These traditions are transmitted from generation to generation, from mothers to daughters.
She grew up where beauty and coquetry is part of everyday life, not a hobby. As a young girl, she already knew how to take care of her beauty through plants and homemade recipes, she made natural cosmetic because it is important to always be beautiful, feel good, and have silky skin.
In her culture, men and babies are not left aside. Babies are massaged with shea butter to relax them as well as to smooth and hydrate their skins. For the same reasons, men and women use this product, as well as others as you are about to discover…
KOOBIA, a story of love, a family story.
Rebecca KOUBIA and Phillippe DEFRANOUX met under the burning hot African sun. Together they created a multi-racial family, where whites, blacks and of course little metis. But this family always had trouble finding products that worked equally well for white skin tones, as well as black and mixed ones.
An idea was born ! Passionate about cosmetics, Rebecca and Phillippe DEFRANOUX, combined their energies and in 2006 decided to do research on these traditional secrets and thus created the products KOOBIA®
